Are you having trouble eating with braces?
Removable braces should not be worn while eating.
Fixed braces have many nooks and crannies where food can get caught and stuck. For this reason, sticky foods should be avoided (chewing gum, chewy candies, etc.).
Very hard foods, such as chocolate, nuts, apples, raw carrots, etc., should not simply be “bitten into,” as this could cause the brackets to break off. Please cut these foods into small pieces beforehand and chew them carefully using your back teeth.
If you’ve just gotten new braces, had them adjusted, or just had a new wire put in your fixed braces, your teeth will usually be sensitive when you chew for a few days. This is normal and will go away.
