You may be familiar with having the chewing surfaces<\/strong> of your large, permanent molars sealed. Your family dentist<\/strong> does this. The goal is to prevent bacteria from settling in the deep grooves of your molars and causing cavities there. <\/p>\n

Before you get fixed braces, your orthodontist<\/strong> will offer to seal the tooth surfaces where the brackets will be bonded<\/strong> as well. This makes sense because the brackets create small crevices<\/strong> that, just like the deep grooves in your molars, are difficult to clean<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The sealant provides extra protection<\/strong>, but it doesn’t replace brushing your teeth! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n
